Dental Restorations
Choosing the Best Dental Restoration
The primary objective of fundamental restorative dental care is two-fold:
- Repair the damaged region caused by decay and
- Restore the tooth’s normal function.
– By identifying cavities early and utilizing a small composite filling, we can prevent the spread of decay to neighboring teeth or the tooth’s sensitive nerve tissue.
In case the decay is detected early, we might be able to provide treatment.
Combining Durability with Aesthetics
– Our composite dental fillings can repair weakened areas, tooth cavities, or small gaps without compromising your smile. The resilient material not only reinforces your tooth but also blends in seamlessly with the surrounding enamel. Consequently, you can relish any food item and confidently smile, knowing that your smile is resilient enough to withstand your daily routine.
– To match the composite filling with your tooth enamel, we use a distinctive shade guide. The composite filling comes in various shades and hues, and we will select the most appropriate one to create a natural-looking appearance for your tooth structure.
Symptoms of Tooth Decay
Tooth decay may not always be accompanied by pain. Other indicators of cavities include:
- Discoloration
- Food catching in teeth
- Floss shredding in certain areas
- Sweet sensitivity
- Something feeling “off” when you chew
- To diagnose a cavity and evaluate the severity of decay, we will take an X-ray of the affected tooth. Based on the extent of the damage, we will recommend the most suitable treatment. If the cavity has not penetrated deep and is limited to the enamel or the layer immediately beneath it, a dental filling would be the preferred treatment method. However, if the decay is severe or deep, a root canal and/or crown may be necessary.
What to Expect During Your Dental Filling Appointment?
Typically, a dental filling appointment lasts for about an hour. Initially, we will ensure that you are comfortable by numbing the tooth that requires treatment. If other dental restorations are required on the same side of your mouth, we may perform them during the same appointment.
Screening for Decay
Regular dental checkups every six months enable us to identify and address issues while they are still small and more manageable. As a result, we can use minor restorative dental treatments instead of more complex procedures.
