What could implant treatment involve?

One missing tooth

An implant-supported crown may replace a single tooth without preparing neighbouring teeth for a conventional bridge.

Several missing teeth

Implants can support a bridge replacing more than one tooth. The number and position of implants require individual planning.

Support for a denture

Implants may help retain a denture. We explain whether a removable or fixed option is appropriate for your needs.

Your implant journey, made simple

Swipe through five stages. Each stage may need more than one appointment.

Assess and plan

We examine your mouth, review your health and discuss suitable imaging. You receive an explanation of options, risks, timing and fees.

Prepare if needed

Gum disease, decay or inadequate bone may need attention first. Not everyone needs bone grafting; we explain if you do.

Place the implant

The implant is placed in the jaw, usually with local anaesthetic. You receive instructions for recovery and an early review.

Allow healing

Bone needs time to heal around the implant. We check progress before moving on; the waiting time is individual.

Fit and maintain

We fit and check the planned crown, bridge or denture. Daily cleaning and regular reviews continue after treatment.

Is implant treatment right for me?

The starting point is a healthy mouth and a realistic plan, not a promise of instant results.

Your health and bone support

We assess your gums, available bone, medicines and medical history. Smoking, gum disease and some health conditions can affect healing and long-term outcomes.

Options beyond implants

A conventional bridge, removable denture or leaving a gap may be appropriate. We explain the trade-offs so you can make an informed choice.

Treatment usually takes several months. Bone grafting and healing can extend the schedule; your clinician explains the plan for your case.

Benefits, limitations and risks

Implants may improve tooth replacement and denture support, but surgery has risks. These include infection, failure to integrate, and site-specific nerve or sinus complications. Parts can loosen or wear and need further care.

A plan you understand

Ask what is included: assessment, imaging, any grafting, implant placement, the replacement tooth and follow-up. We explain proposed fees and ongoing maintenance before you decide.

Your implant questions

Will everyone need a bone graft?

No. It depends on the amount and quality of bone where the implant is planned. We explain alternatives and any additional procedure.

Can I have my final tooth on the same day?

Not everyone is suitable for immediate treatment. Whether a temporary tooth can be fitted, and when the final restoration is placed, depends on the assessment and stability of the implant.

Will implant placement hurt?

Local anaesthetic is usually used. Some soreness, swelling or bruising can follow surgery. We explain suitable pain relief and recovery instructions for you.

How long will an implant last?

Implants can last many years, but they are not guaranteed for life. Gum health, smoking, cleaning, bite forces and regular maintenance affect outcomes.

What should I bring to the consultation?

Bring your medicine list, relevant medical and dental reports, and any denture you wear. Tell us about smoking, grinding, diabetes and previous treatments.

What if I have a concern after treatment?

Contact us for worsening pain, swelling, persistent bleeding or a loose component. Seek emergency medical care if swelling affects breathing or swallowing.
