DENTAL ADVICE · SMILE BY DR NOURA
Healthy smiles for the school year
Busy mornings call for simple routines. Keep dental care on the family checklist without adding another complicated task.

Build a routine that fits real mornings
Choose a regular place for brushes and toothpaste, make time before the school run and keep the evening routine predictable. A two-minute timer can help children stay on track. Parents should help or supervise brushing until at least age seven, and continue checking technique as needed.
Three useful school-day habits
Brush consistently
Use fluoride toothpaste morning and night. Encourage spitting out the excess rather than rinsing it away.
Pack water
Make water the usual drink between meals. Keep sweet foods and drinks to mealtimes rather than repeated snacks.
Protect active smiles
If your child takes part in contact sport, ask about a properly fitted sports mouthguard and how to care for it.
Check what is due, not just what the calendar says
Look at the follow-up advice from your child’s last appointment. If a review is due, arrange it around school commitments. The recommended interval depends on their oral health and risk. Tell us about pain, an injured tooth or a change that worries you rather than waiting for a routine recall.
Questions worth bringing to the visit
- Are there areas my child is missing when brushing?
- Which toothpaste and amount suit their age and needs?
- Do we need advice about their bite, tooth eruption or sport?
- When should we arrange the next review?
Support for parents, too
Your own care matters alongside the school calendar. Let us know if you would like to discuss a check-up, bleeding gums or professional cleaning. We can help you understand the next step and arrange a suitable appointment.
